Sunday Night Pt. II

drunk After getting directions to how to actually catch a bus to Paceville from Bugibba, I reached the bus stop, and there was only a boy waiting so I thought to myself, "a bus has just gone by and picked up the people.. I'm in for a long wait". And right I was, I had to wait 20 minutes for the bus to arrive (although, if you're unlucky, you could be waiting for ever).

While the clock was ticking, people started arriving, waiting for the same bus. Meanwhile a BMW M3 went by and I just wet myself. And it looks as if it's happening on purpose. I'm waiting for this crappy bus, and this guy is happily driving along in the same direction I wanna go.

After pulling myself back into shape, and realising that such a car is a far cry from the reality of buses, I noticed that a lot, and I mean A LOT of French students suddenly appeared from nowhere. I'd guess they were the same age as I was, 16-17. As with all student groups *learning English*, a lot of noise accompanied them. Most of them were chicks, and yes you guessed it, they were singing. Though there were also two notorious guys, happily waving around 2 bottles of wine and having a sip once in a while, together with a packet of cigarettes.

Now, I don't have anything against having a cigarette or having some wine, (well, I guess having bottle wines on the street is illegal), but trying to look cool amongst chicks because you were able to get the merchandise, doesn't really go down so well with me. Especially when you offer every, and I mean every god damn chick some wine and/or cigarettes.

When the bus finally got there, I made sure I was the first one to get on since if those French students got on first, I can forget about a seat. Of course, the 20 minutes wait for the bus wasn't enough, I had to wait another 20 minutes for everyone to get on and pay the fare, because none of the tourists/students know anything about an exact change, they have to show up with €10 notes.

The way to Paceville was quiet cool at least.. We drove through Bahar Ic-Caghaq road, a road along the northern side of the coast of Malta.. Sun was setting, fresh air through the windows with that sea water smell, driver pushing his bus along pretty fast (except of course, near the speed camera) and a couple of "Haq ghall-Ma$%&@#!, eqtewlu naqa" from the drivers side, directed to the students for being too noisy.

Gotta miss these days when I'll have my own car!

[[The other had a typo, sorry! ]]
hmm well.. maybe not on a daily bases, but I think nostalgia will inevitably kick in sometimes!
"although, if you're unlucky, you could be waiting for ever" Absolutely true...

I know what you mean re the students...they are so noisy and annoying :)

"trying to look cool amongst chicks because you were able to get the merchandise, doesn't really go down so well with me. Especially when you offer every, and I mean every god damn chick some wine and/or cigarettes" LOL Even when I was 16 or 17 I saw things like those as "Oh, please" :)
hi wen :) thanks for you comment!

I guess we both learned how the transport system works over here, the hard way! ;) And about the students, yeah same here.. but I think 50% of the Maltese (i.e. all the males) see students as eye candy (i.e. the chicks). :P
LOL about the "eye candy" I guess you are right :)
