A couple of weeks ago I was during a physics lecture at JC and as with most physics lectures we had to copy some diagrams off the board.. I'm not much talented at drawing, in fact I pretty much suck at drawing. Anyway, we had to draw some simple diagrams, wave forms actually. So the diagram is basically a straight line and a couple of curves. I had to erase some parts and re-draw them until the wave form looked consistent.
Shortly before my diagram was finished my friend next to me uttered "What a perfectionist!". I just replied with a "yeah", having only a vague idea of what the word "perfectionist" means. (and still trying to look like I know what perfectionist means)
I forgot about this experience, but this week I was reading an article somewhere and this word appeared again.. so I googled it and here's how it's defined: a person who is displeased by anything that does not meet very high standards.
That's pretty much me. Whatever I do, whatever I talk about, it has to meet high standards. For example, projects that I really like working on (such as programming) has to meet high standards. I prefer to spend more time (and usually go beyond the deadline) and create something of a high standard.
Even regarding audio.. most of my friends have mp3 players and the like. Most of them are cheap ones, ones that I consider crap. Their sound quality isn't good at all but for my friends as long as there's some music playing, it's good. I'm not like that. I spent a lot of money on my audio gear and when I mention the cost some call me "out of my mind" or something like that. But I don't care as long as it meets high standards.
Bottom line is that I prefer to work harder and spend more time on something just so that something is up to high standards. Do you think it's worth the effort?
PS: sorry for haven't posted in like two weeks or so!
