Tonight one of my favourite DJs off all time is here in Malta to play a set at Creamfields. I've been listening to some of his tracks since 3 years or so ago, but this past year I got more into his type of genre, so obviously, I've been listening to his stuff even more lately. (can't really define his style into one genre; Progressive House / Minimal House / Tech House / House / Breaks).
I'm sure that when I'll be retired, driving along somewhere, and incidentally the radio happens to be playing some of his tunes I'd remember in my teen years.. I'd probably grumble something like "those were the days"....
So yeah, as I've said, he's here in Malta. I've considered going to the party, but there's a couple of reasons why I decided I'd miss such an opportunity.. One of the main problems is the time, one of the few things I hate being a teenager, or let me re-phrase, having such parents that I have, because most of my friends can stay out late.. Anyway, another thing is, I'm not much of a party fan.. I mean firstly, most of the guys/gals at the party aren't actually there to appreciate this guy playing awesome music, but to get drunk / hook up / meet ppl / and probably most of them to take drugs.. And really all I want to do is just listen to the music and watch him playing on the decks. Secondly, from experience, I've learned that even though he is my favourite DJ, that doesn't mean that it would have been an awesome night, because so many things can go wrong to screw up a night..
Heh, so yeah, I'm sulking up a bit here, but I won't be doing anything about it. At least I have loads of his sets on my music player / computer and I've got a couple of memories attached to them (JC library, Msida, Ta Xbiex.. just a great first year at JC).. but deep down I really wish I am going to see him playing just a couple of feet away from me! Maybe I'll be lucky enough to see him some time else before he gets out of business!
If I was going to the party, I'd buy you a drink Hernan, I certainly owe you one!
