2008 Re-Cap

posted on December 27th, 2008

January

It was an OK period in my life. Sometimes I felt as if life is good, mostly relax at JC and other times I felt like I really want to do something with my life. Make a name for myself, do something, be successful.

February

Got a new mobile but other than that nothing new really. Oh, definitely, we started playing tetris on my new mobile during maths lectures! God, how I miss those days.

March

A new person came into my life. It was a lovely period in life, I'm sure I'll remember it for the rest of my life.

April

Had one of my best Sundays ever with a couple of friends. Oh I remember the SOK project too. Damn, I worked my arse off to meet the deadline but now I look back with nostalgia.

May

Things started to turn sour in the end. I learned about a new side in life. I learned to accept things the way they were, even if I was really disappointed about some aspects in my life. I spent the last week mainly studying, cut off from the world. Although I really needed to study hard, since I spent a whole year goofing around at JC, I found the act of studying as a good excuse to spend some lone time.

June

Had 2 or 3 weeks of exams. I like it when it's exam time. I love it when I see people stressed out, worrying and shit about exams. It's as if it's the end of the world! Spent the remaining weeks mostly inside, started coding on my project => this blog website.

July

Moved to Bugibba. Spent the first two weeks mostly inside. I found a new love. Code. I used to wake up really early, six in the morning just to code. Although I really do love to code and I am passionate about it, it was just a way of living in another world. Last few weeks I started getting re-acquainted with my best friend. Had the advantage of being really close to his work. Started making new friends, started going out again, started discovering the scene at Bugibba, started getting accepted in a new group. I also started going to the beach more often with a couple of friends. Oh I received my final exams result.. was pretty surprised actually, mainly because I had completely forgotten about them in the first place and secondly for just a week or so studying before the exams, I did really well!

August

I had one of the worst nights in my life. If you like to stop and think a bit about life, you probably figured this out already. The nicer you are with people, the more caring, the more you get slapped in the face.

Spent a whole week hanging around at Mosta, during the feast. It was a cool week, I'm not really a fan of Maltese feasts, but I got to see another side of it.

Ironically, I had one of the best nights in my life, too, during this month. A BBQ with some friends of mine. I'll remember it for the rest of my life. Never laughed so much, never genuinely had so much fun!

September

Airshow

Had a few more fabulous nights at Bugibba. Amazonia, going to the beach to watch the sun rise, having English breakfast. Oh how lovely life was.

October

Oh god no, back to JC! It was nice for the first week, meeting again with old friends from the past year, sharing summer experiences and shit, but then it started getting boring. Really boring. A lot of people left since the past year, most of the first years we don't know and we don't really hang out with, so a lot of the frees were boring. I took advantage of going to the library and work on some math.

November

Started out crappy, mostly studying during my frees and weekend just to kill time because I didn't have anything to do with my life. I hate it when I have to change my lifestyle.. I was getting comfortable with Summer, and bam my life had to change again. New friends, etc.

However I had two of my most memorable nights. How I wish I can travel back in time.

December

Started going to Paceville on Fridays instead of Saturdays. Really really better. No kids, 20 year olds, not cramped with people, and good company too.

I was sick for a couple of days and had to stay at home for a week or two. It really sucked, but what can you do, really?

Christmas day was fabulous though. Good food, good company.

Overall

If I had to go through this year again, I would. I had a couple of days (or let's say nights) where I felt like I'm on top of the world, where my life was fulfilled. I had to pay dearly for these few days where I was genuinely the happiest man on earth. But it was really worth it. I learned first hand that best things in life are free.. which I find unfortunate to a certain extent, because really I'd pay anything to go through certain experiences again!

Another thing I noticed is my dependency on public transport weakened. It's a safe bet to say I only had to catch a bus tem times during the Summer months. The reason being is I made new friends which are a tad older than me, who got a car already. And my school friends, the ones that I grew up with started turning 18 so I can hitch a ride with them, too, now!

Only a few days left for 2008 to be history. Now, let us hope for a prosperous new year, 2009!

PS: I've written this post after a night-out, I'm barely awake and probably it's full of mistakes. Let's just hope I won't regret posting this tomorrow morning!

"I found a new love. Code."
XD

For someone half awake, you write pretty effectively. =P Ever considered taking up writing? ;)

May your next year be even better than this one!
Start writing? Nah...

I'm ok with writing on my own blog (although sometimes I do find my own English being crappy) but other than that..

Apart from being too busy these days :P
Your English is very good.

If I had to live this year all over again??...I am not so sure about that LOL my life went through many ups and downs and decisive moments like the home loan...now I look forward to enjoy some more stability in 2009

All the best for the New Year. By the way, "G" is around :) He came to Malta for a couple of weeks :)

Red sends you his best wishes for 2009 too.

Cheers,
Hi wen!

Ahh well, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do even if it needs that extra push.. then you can humbly look upon your achievements later on in life!
